About Cedric McMinn
Cedric McMinn is the Chief of Staff for Miami-Dade School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall. His responsibilities include working with community organizations, elected officials, and leaders to benefit the students attending schools in School Board District 2. He was the Political Outreach and African-American Director for the 2008 Barack Obama and Joe Biden Presidential Campaign. Cedric also served as the Executive Director of the Miami-Dade Democratic Party. As Executive Director, he was responsible for the day-to-day operations to facilitate and support a more effective political organization focused on getting Democratic candidates elected to public office. He previously worked as a Government Relations Specialist at Becker and Poliakoff, P.A.
Cedric is politically active in the Miami-Dade community at various levels. He served as the 1st Vice Chair of the Miami-Dade Democratic Party. He served as the State Outreach Director for the 2014 Charlie Crist for Governor; a volunteer for Congressional, state and local campaigns; a Miami-Dade County Elections poll worker; and District Assistant to State Representative Cynthia A. Stafford and Legislative Assistant to former State Representative Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall in the Florida House of Representatives. In 2008 and 2012, he was an elected Delegate for Barack Obama; and in 2016, he was an elected Delegate for Hillary Clinton.
He also served as the President for the Miami-Dade Young Democrats, where he hosted and planned political forums and fundraisers to help elect young leaders. Because of his achievements, he was selected as a Delegate to attend the 2012 Democratic National Convention. The Florida Young Democrats has awarded Cedric the title of Young Democrat of the Year in 2009 and 2011.
Cedric has held numerous civic leadership positions in the County. He was the President of the Young Professionals Network of Miami-Dade County. He served as Secretary on the Miami Children’s Initiative’s Board of Directors and he is the Entertainment Chair for the FIU Holiday Celebration for Children. In college, he served as the SGA Lower Division Representative, President of the Interfraternity Council, Vice-President of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, an Orientation Leader, and Resident Assistant to name a few. Because of his extensive involvement, he earned the distinguished title of “Mr. FIU”. After graduating in 2001, he was hired to work at FIU’s Campus Life to advise student programming activities.
In 2013, Cedric was selected for the Miami Fellows Class VII sponsored by the Miami Foundation. He is a recent graduate of the Congressional Black Caucus Institute’s Political Boot Camp sponsored by U.S. Congresswoman Frederica Wilson. In 2014, Cedric was selected as one of Miami-Dade County’s Top 40 Under 40 Black Leaders sponsored by Legacy Miami Magazine. In 2008 and 2012, he was elected a Delegate for Barack Obama; and in 2016, he was elected a Delegate for Hillary Clinton.
Cedric is inspired by the accomplishments and leadership of former U.S. President Barack Obama and believes that success comes through hard work and perseverance.
